Meet Lewis

Lewis Baumander is a director and acting coach from Toronto. Lewis has been in the industry for 50 years and has directed over 100 plays across Canada in theatres such as The Tarragon, The Manitoba Theatre Centre, and Skylight Theatre. During this time, he directed numerous classical theatre pieces, including Hamlet starring Keanu Reeves.

Beyond theater, Lewis has directed film, television, and the annual Industry Show for The Humber School of Comedy at Second City. He’s also coached and taught 4 generations of working actors on shows such as The Boys, Ginny and Georgia, Sex/Life, From, Handmaid’s Tale, among many, many others. Lewis has also been a casting consultant on many TV series. In his 50 years in the industry, he's coached thousands of talented actors including Keanu Reeves, Shamier Anderson (Awake, Goliath, Race), Nina Dobrev (Degrassi, Vampire Diaries), Dewshane Williams (Umbrella Academy, Supergirl, Bright Side), and Ellen Wong (Scott Pilgrim, Glow, Condor).

Beyond teaching at the University of Manitoba, University of Windsor, Ryerson, Humber, Sheridan and Seneca College, Lewis also founded the LB Acting Studio where works as a go-to coach for some of the top agents at Canada’s top tier talent agencies including The Characters, Noble Caplan Abrams, AMI, and OAZ among many others. There's a reason why top tier agencies across North America trust Lewis full heartedly - you'd be hard pressed to find a TV show or film shot in Canada that doesn't have an LB Acting Studio actor on it.

Lewis also owns Casting Central, one of Canada’s largest Casting Facilities, facilitating Casting Directors such as RDC, Forrest and Forrest, Deirdre Bowen, Buchan Knight, and Lewis Kay Casting.
